Anthropic has launched the Claude Plugin Developer Portal. Developers with a paid subscription can submit self-developed plugins directly to the official plugin library and track security scans, review progress, and post-launch usage statistics.
Plugins include MCP connectors and Agent Skills, with two submission methods:
- Directly submit a remote MCP service URL
- Package the MCP service and Skills together in a GitHub repository and submit the entire repository.
For the Claude Code terminal, plugin packages also support packaging additional LSP, custom commands, Hooks, and agents.
On the technical specifications side, plugins fully support the stateless core of MCP 2.0, and integrate MCP Apps that support rendering interactive interfaces within conversations, as well as enterprise-grade zero-config OAuth authentication. After a plugin is published, developers can view installation distribution across clients and versions in the backend, as well as search exposure performance within the directory.
All of this makes for a quite comprehensive setup. This again reminds me of my experience publishing a Skill on Xiaohongshu; the experience was absolutely terrible.
In addition, the official plugin library currently does not provide any official monetization channels, but because it supports MCP and OAuth, the indirect monetization paths for plugin developers are still very clear.
